Family traditions that surround the holiday season are ones that we look forward to all year long. Setting up the tree, looking at old ornaments, picking out the perfect present and of course waiting for Santa arrive. My kids really enjoy being able to track Santa’s whereabouts thanks to all the Christmas volunteers at NORAD.
This year, I learned exactly how the tradition of NORAD tracking Santa began. As a military family this story touched my heart in a way that was completely unexpected. It begins with wrong number phone call answered by a no-nonsense Airforce Colonel, and ending with that same Colonel being dubbed Santa Colonel.
